La strada Fahrzeugbau GmbH is a German recreational vehicle manufacturer specializing in compact motorhomes. In its nearly 40-year history, the manufacturer from Echzell, Hesse, has succeeded in establishing itself in the converted panel van motorhome segment. In this segment, la strada defines its market position through the quality of the materials used and their high-quality craftsmanship.
The quality of each individual vehicle meets the high standards of a manufacturer. The wide selection of optional extras, furniture finishes, upholstery fabrics, and leathers is unique in this vehicle class. This means that, despite being mass-produced, la strada meets the highest standards of customization. All this makes la strada the premium supplier of compact motorhomes.
Starting out as a small family business, the motorhome manufacturer has developed into a small-series manufacturer operating throughout Europe. Thanks to European type approval, the motorhomes built in Echzell today can be registered anywhere in the European Union. For a recreational vehicle manufacturer of this size, this is an equally progressive and unusual achievement, which has become the basis for a growing European dealer network. 18 trading partners serve la strada's German customers. Around 22 other contractual partners in other European countries sell la strada motorhomes. A dealer in the vicinity of the Japanese capital Tokyo remains an exotic addition to the Hessian motorhome manufacturer's distribution network.
Around 300 vehicles leave the 14,000 square meter company premises in Echzell every year. The production hall, which was expanded and modernized in 2008, is one of the most modern production facilities for panel van motorhomes in Europe. Under the leadership of owners Marco Lange and Andreas Dalchow, around 50 employees build a dozen different models in the three Avanti, Regent, and Nova series. The Avanti series is mainly based on Fiat Ducato vans, while the Regent and Nova series are based on Mercedes Sprinter vans.
La strada has gained experience with almost all common small vans throughout its long history. The first conversion was carried out in 1986 based on the Volkswagen T3. Shortly afterwards, a series based on the Mercedes MB 100 was created. This was followed by models based on Citroen, Ford, Renault, and Mercedes Vito. In the 1980s and 1990s, experiments were even carried out with small vans from Asian brands.
The introduction of the la strada Nova in 2000 marked a turning point in la strada's history. This was the first time that la strada had ventured beyond the realm of panel van motorhomes. At the same time, the Nova laid the foundation for the company's shift towards the premium segment, which is now consistently reflected across all model series. The most luxurious models in the la strada range are semi-integrated motorhomes. Here, a completely new living area is placed on the ladder frame chassis of the Mercedes Sprinter. Unlike conventional semi-integrated models, the living area of the la strada Nova is made from a single piece of glass fiber-reinforced plastic. Flaps, doors, and windows are inserted into the designated recesses. The result is good insulation, high robustness, and durability. With this elaborate construction, the la strada Nova is still unique in the German motorhome landscape today.
In the coming years, la strada plans to continuously expand its European dealer network. The aim is to close regional gaps and tap into new countries. The clearly positioned model range will be adapted to the new editions of the small vans used and supplemented with new models in the medium term. The la strada values of compact dimensions, solid materials, high-quality workmanship, and maximum customization are always at the heart of the requirements catalog.
