At the Caravan Motor Touristik CMT trade fair, which begins in Stuttgart in a few days, la strada Fahrzeugbau GmbH will be presenting the all-wheel-drive version of the compact Regent S motorhome on the new Mercedes Sprinter for the first time. The solid furniture construction, which has always been a trademark of the Hessian motorhome manufacturer, complements the new assistance systems and the 4ETS electronic four-wheel-drive from Mercedes Benz. This combination results in a solid yet comfortable motorhome for adventures off the beaten track. The new Regent S 4×4 will be on display for the first time at CMT 2019 in Stuttgart at the la strada stand in Hall 7, Stand C 31.
In the Regent S model, which is based on the Mercedes Sprinter, the four-wheel-drive is based on the 4ETS electronic traction system from Mercedes-Benz. This four-wheel-drive variant can be engaged. It can be engaged when the engine is running while stationary or at low speeds of up to 10 km/h. Power is transmitted variably in a ratio of 35:65 to the front and rear axles. If one or more wheels lose traction on slippery surfaces, 4ETS automatically brakes the spinning wheels with short pulses, thereby increasing the drive torque on the wheels with good traction by the same amount. This automatic braking intervention can simulate the effect of up to three differential locks: longitudinal lock, rear axle lock, and front axle lock. The body of the four-wheel-drive version of the Regent S is raised by 110 mm at the front and 80 mm at the rear. The four-wheel-drive versions of the Regent S can be combined with the latest Euro VI-D engines with 120 kW/163 hp to 140 kW/190 hp.
Together with Austrian four-wheel-drive specialist Oberaigner, la strada is also upgrading its Regent four-wheel-drive models for tougher off-road conditions. To this end, the switchable four-wheel-drive can be converted to permanent four-wheel-drive. Off-road reduction gear, mechanically switchable longitudinal and transverse differential locks, and optimal off-road tyres are also available.
The la strada Regent S 4×4 also scores points with the numerous new assistance systems of the Mercedes Sprinter. Voice control, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree panoramic view from the rear view camera are available in the la strada Regent S 4×4, depending on the equipment package. Crosswind assist, lane keeping assist, high beam assist, and blind spot assist were already available in the previous model and will of course remain available. The living space of the la strada Regent S 4×4 is consistently optimized for two people and is identical to the rear-wheel drive version. Good ergonomics, high sleeping comfort, variable storage space, and high-quality materials characterize this motorhome.
Compact dimensions, solid furniture construction, and robust four-wheel-drive technology make the la strada Regent S 4×4 a reliable travel companion on almost any terrain. The new Regent S 4×4 is available from €80,265.
