La strada announces new Nova

Two floor plans with GRP monocoque cabin on Mercedes Sprinter

At the CARAVAN SALON trade fair, which is currently getting underway in Düsseldorf, la strada Fahrzeugbau GmbH has announced a new Nova series for 2020. Initial computer animations give an impression of the new flagship model from the Hessian motorhome manufacturer.

Two floor plans with lengths of 6.46 and 6.99 meters will be available from the first half of 2020. Like its predecessor, the new Nova is based on a closed GRP monocoque cabin, which is mounted on a Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel-drive. The complex but extremely durable monocoque construction made of glass fiber reinforced plastic ensures high insulation, reliable sealing, and elegant lines.

Admittedly, the realization of the new Nova took longer than we would have liked. But now we are close to completing our new flagship model. The new la strada Nova continues the proven concept of the GRP monocoque cabin. Otherwise, we have developed a completely new vehicle that incorporates many suggestions from our customers and trading partners," explains Marco Lange, managing partner of la strada Fahrzeugbau GmbH. "We are confident that the new Nova will enable us to continue the success of our top series. The new Nova meets our highest standards of quality, comfort, and equipment for a compact motorhome."
The Nova's body is seamless, with no protruding bars, handles, or hinges on the exterior doors. The entrance door of the GRP body has been significantly widened. The slightly tinted windows blend seamlessly into the overall appearance. A large rear window allows light and air into the interior and nestles against the lines of the GRP monocoque cabin.

The new Nova M features the same layout as its predecessor, with three sleeping places in a longitudinally installed fold-down bed above the seating area and a second single bed across the rear above the garage. At 6.46 meters long, it is ten centimeters longer than its predecessor. This creates more space in the living area. The wheelbase is a maneuverable 3.66 meters. The Nova M comes standard with a gross vehicle weight of 4.1 tons and a generous payload of 920 kilograms. For just two people, a reduced-weight 3.5-ton version with a payload of 320 kilograms is also available on request.

The completely new Nova EB has single beds in the rear and storage cupboards above the seating area in the front. The new "giant" among the la stradas, which is still compact for the luxury class at 6.99 meters long, is based on the 4.33-meter wheelbase of the Mercedes Benz Sprinter. With a gross vehicle weight of 4.1 tons, there is a payload reserve of 710 kilograms – plenty for a two-person layout.

Both Nova models have four seats secured with three-point seat belts for driving. An Isofix attachment for child seats with top tether is available on the bench seat. Standard equipment also includes SKA comfort seats with pneumatic lumbar support and seat heating in the cab, as well as an awning that fits flush into the body. A more powerful engine, four-wheel-drive, ten paint finishes, ten wood finishes, thirteen furniture finishes, 115 different leather, partial leather, and upholstery options, and an extensive list of optional extras mean that the new flagship model from la strada leaves virtually nothing to be desired.

The la strada Nova EB model with a standard 120 kW (163 hp) engine will be available at a price starting at €97,430, while the more compact la strada Nova M will start at €95,430.
