At the CARAVAN SALON in Düsseldorf, in Hall 15, Stand C 26, la strada will be unveiling the next generation of its compact Regent S motorhome to the public for the first time. The new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter gives the la strada Regent S a new look for the 2019 season. Additional modern assistance systems from the passenger car sector are now being incorporated into the range of features offered by la strada motorhomes. Voice control, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree surround view from the rearview camera are available in the la strada Regent S, depending on the equipment package. The high-quality furniture construction and clever use of space make the la strada Regent S, which is only 5.93 meters long, a reliable and comfortable travel companion. The variable rear storage space makes the compact panel van motorhome very suitable for everyday use.
Numerous assistance systems that were previously reserved for passenger cars are now also available in the la strada Regent S. The driver activates the voice assistant by saying "Hello Mercedes." Intuitive commands such as "Next gas station," "Navigate home," or "Play Radio hr3" are all that is needed to operate the system. This is not only a convenient solution, but also a safe one, especially while driving. This is because the driver's eyes remain on the road and their hands on the steering wheel. The new adaptive cruise control is also operated from the ergonomically shaped leather steering wheel. This function, which was previously only available in passenger cars, keeps the la strada Regent S at a safe distance from the vehicle in front. The Regent S brakes automatically when the vehicle in front slows down and accelerates independently to the preset cruising speed as soon as the road is clear again. Parking is child's play with the new 360-degree surround view of the rear view camera. It not only shows what is behind the vehicle, but also everything to the side and in front. Crosswind assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist, and blind spot assist were already available in the previous model and will of course remain available.
The la strada Regent S is powered on the rear axle by the latest Euro VI-C CDI engines with 120 kW/163 hp to 140 kW/190 hp. As soon as it becomes available from Mercedes-Benz, there will also be an all-wheel-drive version of the la strada Regent S.
The living space of the la strada Regent S is consistently optimized for two people. The headroom above the driver's seats is generous because the storage compartment above the cockpit has a hinged floor. This is also where the table is stored during the journey. The bench seat can be moved: with the backrest upright for driving and with the backrest reclined and the seat moved forward for living. The convex shape of the seat backrest, which adapts to the back, ensures comfortable seating in all positions. The bench seat is equipped with two three-point seat belts. The window seat has an Isofix mount for child seats. The kitchenette has a three-burner gas stove with piezo ignition. The 65-liter compressor refrigerator is installed right next to the stove and sink at a convenient height. Wall cabinets and five drawers of different sizes with soft-close mechanisms provide storage for cooking utensils. The interior is available in a combination of over 84 fabric and leather options. Ten combinable wood finishes are available, as are ten exterior paint finishes.
If required, a curtain separates the living area with seating and kitchen from the sleeping area with bathroom and bed. Two double doors provide access to the bathroom. This space-saving solution opens up the entire front of the bathroom and also increases freedom of movement in the hallway. The Froli system and cold foam mattress ensure a high level of sleeping comfort in the rear bed. Storage space is provided by eight wall cabinets, the wardrobe, and two drawers under the bed.
The rear storage space makes the la strada Regent S highly suitable for everyday use. It contains two practical cupboards for small items and storage space for two 11-kilogram gas bottles. There is also plenty of storage space under the bed for shopping or luggage. When the middle section of the bed is folded up, a spacious through-loading option to the driver's cab can be created in just a few simple steps. The center cabinet is simply lifted out. This allows the Regent S to handle bulky transport tasks or carry bicycles and surfboards on vacation.
The la strada Regent S is a compact motorhome for discerning users. At a base price of €66,900, it combines flexibility, everyday practicality, and living and sleeping comfort with high-quality workmanship. It is as easy to drive as a car.
