Echzell / Stuttgart – la strada Fahrzeugbau will celebrate its 40th anniversary in summer 2026. On the occasion of the CMT in Stuttgart, opening shortly, the van conversion manufacturer based in Hesse is unveiling its Edition 40. At the core of this special equipment package is an induction cooktop, combined with a high-performance inverter designed for reliable power supply, a powerful battery charger and a high-capacity lithium battery. This setup allows induction cooking completely independent of any external power source. In combination with a diesel heating system and a compressor refrigerator, this configuration enables six AVANTI models as well as the REGENT EB to operate entirely without a gas installation.
Since its founding 40 years ago, la strada Fahrzeugbau has built a strong reputation for the inner values of its campervans. To mark its 40th anniversary, la strada continues to build on these core strengths. The Edition 40 represents an innovative step towards gas-free campervan, delivering modern technology without compromising full autonomy.
la strada Edition 40
At the heart of the Edition 40 is a two-zone induction cooktop, perfectly integrated into a mineral-based worktop with an integrated sink. The two cooking zones deliver outputs of 1,000 and 1,300 watts. To ensure both zones can be used simultaneously without any external power connection, la strada Fahrzeugbau installs a 3,600-watt high-performance inverter in the rear storage compartment, supplied by a 410 amp-hour lithium battery. A 120-amp charger ensures the battery is quickly and efficiently recharged after use. Presented at CMT 2026, this configuration is offered as part of the Edition 40 package, providing a customer advantage of approximately €4,500 compared to purchasing the individual equipment items separately.
The integration of this powerful electrical architecture eliminates the need for a gas installation. The space previously occupied by two 11 kg gas bottles is now dedicated to the lithium battery. Additional space remains for a pull-out drawer designed to store a cable reel and power adapters, while the inverter is housed in an adjacent storage compartment. Heating in the Edition 40 is provided by a diesel heating system, while food storage is handled by a compressor refrigerator. In the complete absence of a gas system, these two elements are essential components of the Edition 40 concept.
This gas-free configuration is initially available on the AVANTI L, E, C, F, EB and EBF models, as well as on the REGENT EB. An extension to additional models is planned during the 2026 model year.
New compressor refrigerator
In addition, la strada Fahrzeugbau is expanding its options list for the 2026 model year with a new compressor refrigerator. With a capacity of 150 litres, this slim-design model features a convenient bottle pull-out drawer as its lower storage compartment and includes a large three-star freezer compartment. It will be available as an option on the AVANTI L, E, C, F, EB and EBF models.
