Echzell/Düsseldorf – la strada Fahrzeugbau will showcase the new AVANTI R at the upcoming CARAVAN SALON in Düsseldorf, in Hall 15, Booth D25. The converted Fiat Ducato-based van expands the AVANTI lineup with a floor plan featuring a large lounge seating area in the rear. Sleeping is arranged on a lift-up bed that lowers over the seating area at the push of a button. The AVANTI R is designed exclusively for two people and offers maximum living comfort in the 6.36-meter-long Fiat Ducato with an H3 super-high roof. In addition, la strada has given all its models a thorough overhaul. From exterior design to technical equipment, all models benefit from the new, modern features of the 2027 season.
With the AVANTI R, la strada has designed a compact motorhome that highlights one of the Hessian manufacturer’s strengths: maximum living comfort in a compact space. To switch from driving mode to living mode, the driver’s seat is rotated. That’s all it takes. The kitchen, bathroom, and the extremely spacious lounge seating area in the rear are ready for living. In the evening, the 202 x 192 cm lengthwise lift-up bed is lowered from the ceiling at the push of a button. It rests firmly in place and doesn’t wobble if someone rolls over in their sleep. In the morning, the bed can stay as is, and the table is set up in front of the swiveled driver’s seats for breakfast.
The la strada AVANTI R is based on a Fiat Ducato with at least 103 kW/140 PS and a standard automatic transmission. It uses the 16-inch Maxi chassis and, with careful selection of optional equipment, can also be registered as a 3.5-metric-ton vehicle for 2 people. Like all la strada models from the 2027 model year, the AVANTI R also meets the requirements of the European General Safety Regulation II (GSR II). These include, among other things, a speed warning system, emergency braking assist with an emergency braking indicator, lane departure warning, a drowsiness and attention warning system, a tire pressure monitoring system, a rearview camera, and parking sensors (chassis-mounted). On the exterior, it already features the more dynamic design that all la strada AVANTI models from the 2027 model year onward will receive.
Upgraded Features
The AVANTI R already features many upgraded amenities that will be available across all la strada models starting in the 2027 season. These include a standard compressor refrigerator. In the AVANTI R, it has a capacity of 150 liters. In the other la strada models, the size varies between 70 and 157 liters, depending on available space. The new digital touchscreen control panel integrates seamlessly with the Smart Caravaning solution introduced last year and the la strada app.
La strada has also thoroughly redesigned the kitchen unit. It now features a mineral-based countertop and wraparound indirect lighting. A 2-burner gas stove next to a stainless steel sink comes standard. The underside of the sink cover can be used as a handy cutting board. The AVANTI R is heated with diesel as standard, so a small 2.75-kilogram gas cylinder is sufficient to power the stove. If you choose the new Comfort Package 4—which la strada introduced in early 2026 as the Edition 40 Package—a modern induction stove is available. The entire gas system, including the cylinder, is then omitted.
The bathroom does not have a shower curtain. Instead, it features a new, tightly closing folding door with a frosted-glass look that is lighter in weight. This makes the bathroom brighter and gives the living area a more elegant look when the bathroom door is closed.
Other new features not included in the AVANTI R include a new bench seat with improved headrests and a new upholstery design. In the leather version, the upholstery is additionally quilted, further enhancing the elegance of the interior.
