March 27, 2020, Echzell/Essen – The third-generation Nova EB, first presented by LA ATRADA Fahrzeugbau GmbH in January 2020, has been awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020. An international jury of around 40 design experts tested, discussed, and evaluated the la strada Nova EB live and on site at the Red Dot headquarters in Essen. The "Red Dot" is an award for high design quality and is only given to products that demonstrate outstanding design.
When designing the GRP body of the new Nova, the LA-STRADA developers placed great importance on clean lines and flush styling. Sophisticated internal hinges on the body door and exterior flaps, as well as the modern push-to-open locking system, enable a clean exterior design. The exterior flaps for the gas and toilet compartments are unlocked using push buttons in the entrance and rear garage. The two doors of the rear garage are locked using a remote control on the key ring. The tinted windows blend flush into the overall appearance. A large rear window lets light and air into the interior and nestles against the shape of the GRP monocoque cabin. The awning fits seamlessly into a recess in the GRP cabin. Even the ventilation grilles of the refrigerator are painted in the same color as the vehicle. The new la strada flagship thus sets standards in terms of exterior design.

"The winners of the Red Dot Award have proven that they have created truly outstanding products. These products impress not only with their aesthetics, but also with their unparalleled functionality. With their designs, the award winners are setting new standards in their industry. I would like to congratulate them warmly on this success," said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of Red Dot.
The Red Dot Award: Product Design offers designers and manufacturers from around the world a platform for evaluating their products. In 2020, designers and companies from 60 countries submitted more than 6,500 products to the competition. The international jury, consisting of experienced experts from various fields, has been meeting for around 65 years to identify the best designs. The evaluation process, which lasts several days, is based on two essential criteria: the jurors try out all the submissions in order to assess not only their aesthetics but also the materials used, the workmanship, the surface structure, the ergonomics, and the functionality. Only after intensive discussions do they make a decision on the design quality of the products. True to the motto "In search of good design and innovation," only the best designs receive an award.
About the Red Dot Design Award:
In order to professionally evaluate the diversity in the field of design, the Red Dot Design Award is divided into three disciplines: Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design, and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. With over 18,000 submissions, the Red Dot Award is one of the largest design competitions in the world. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to evaluate the best designs of the time. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award. Since then, the coveted "Red Dot" award has been the internationally renowned seal of excellence in design quality. The winners are presented in yearbooks, museums, and online.
